Good times for good mates; the winning recipe.
Our Welcome to Summer Party wasn’t your usual classic summertime session. Don’t get us wrong, it had all the key elements: cold beer, fresh seafood, live music, pluggers, party shirts and frothing punters. However there was another special element to the shindig, one that really tickles our pickle, or froths our schooner (to be more accurate).
The event was co-hosted by Young Veterans Sunshine Coast, an amazing not-for-profit organisation that enriches the lives of Australian veterans by connecting them with their communities through active and social events. If there’s an organisation that embodies the true meaning of mateship, it’s these guys.
All entry fees were donated to the Young Veterans, who were there on the day bringing the good times, getting amongst our Prawnstar Competition, running the dunking machine and just being all round legends. The chapter President, PK Kenno, even made the Prawnstar final, finishing in the top 3 of the inaugural peel-off.
PK said the event was an absolute ripper and the day brought in over $3,800 in donations.
“That money will allow us to run at least 2 monthly events in 2021 for Veterans and their families,” he said.
“These events are designed to reduce isolation and provide a safe, like minded environment for veterans and their families to socialise and re-connect.”
“Being able to run these events at zero cost for the Veterans and their families ensures that a veteran’s financial situation does not prevent them from attending and participating.”
Good times with good mates for a good cause; consider our schooner frothed.
A massive thank you to those who attended the event and donated. You should feel proud knowing how that donation will be spent and who it’ll help, we certainly are.
Also thank you to PK and the Young Veterans crew for an epic day. If you’d like to find out more about the Sunshine Coast chapter, you can find them on Facebook here.
